Description |
"The Closet" a one-room addition to the laundry building at the Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake. The addition was built as housing for the Colony's first African American student, Fulton Fryar, who was 17 years old. He named it and decorated it using his sign painting skills. Painted on the door is "Always Welcome to the Closet / The home of Fulton Fryer" Construction is basic: ship lap siding on exterior over framing (approx. 24" studs) with no interior walls. Roof rafters are exposed. The roof has a single-pitch and a deep overhang on the front. A step-up at one end of the room is original to the construction. |
