Albumen print mounted on page from proof album. Printed on negative in lower left corner of photo: "Leland House, Schroon Lake, N.Y." and in lower right corner: "Copyright 1888 by S.R. Stoddard, Glens Falls, N.Y." Handwritten in red in the lower right margin: "203". Leland House was considered the leading hotel between New York and Montreal. It burned to the ground before World War II. A change in the driving habits of tourists including the completion of the Adirondack Northway further diverted people away from the area. |
