Summary |
The collection is comprised of materials created and compiled by Nathan Proller in his role as the co-chairman and finance chairman of the Committee for the Adirondack Northway. The collection includes incoming and outgoing correspondence, draft materials, publications, and newspaper clippings. The collection traces the efforts of the Committee for the Adirondack Northway in advocating for construction of the Adirondack Northway as part of Interstate 87, traversing the eastern half of the Adirondacks from Albany to the Canadian border via Saratoga, Lake George, Warrensburg, Schroon Lake and Plattsburgh. The collection includes material on the merits of the Adirondack route and material challenging the merits of an alternative Lake Champlain route. A native of Corinth, New York, Proller also served as a New York State senator, director of the Adirondack Park Association, and commissioner of the New York State Lottery Commission. Proller also operated an insurance agency in Glens Falls, New York, for many years. See notes field for folder listing. |
