Summary |
2 boxes of miscellaneous material created and compiled by George H. McCarthy. Born in 1897, McCarthy grew up in Watertown, New York until his family moved to New York City in 1914. He graduated from Cornell University in 1920 and lived in Albany, New York at the these materials were compiled. The collection pertains to the genealogy of McCarthy's family and includes correspondence, essays, clippings, and scrapbooks about family history, the hamlet of Wevertown, and the town of Griffin. In a letter, McCarthy mentions being a frequent visitor to the Adirondacks from 1900-1929, and the collection includes many newspaper clippings, newsletters, and other materials related to the Adirondacks, including information about the history and towns of Wevertown and Griffin.
