Description Small, light-weight ice tongs of the type generally used on delivery trucks. "Boston Tongs, Extra Hollow Handle" (see Notes) were popular because the handle was stiffer and much more comfortable. The hollow handles are made of a light pipe, the two bows are rivited together just below the handles. The points are made of tempered steel to hold sharp edges and points. Stamped in one bow is "Gifford-Wood Co. Hudson, NY" and "542-20 IN." on the other. Used in home delivery of ice, Town of Raquette Lake.

"Boston Tongs, extra hollow handle (painted black) have gas-pipe handles of special quality, 7/8-in. diameter.
