Description New York or Yankee style broad ax. Used for squaring logs and for squaring structural timbers of all kinds. Steel blade with a wooden handle. Pointed lugs on the top and bottom of the head. Curved shoulders on the top and bottom of the blade. Indistinguishable prior marks on one side of poll. Prior marks on opposite side of blade: "WPP". Straight cutting edge beveled on one side. Varnished, shaped straight wooden handle. Handle curves to one side away from the beveled edge to protect the user's fingers. Handle has been cut away on top to match the lugs.
