Object Name Plane, Bench
Date 1800-1900
Material Wood
Description Raised panel plane made of wood; body, handle and sides are finished. Wedge and cutter are missing. Shaped handle from separate piece of wood that is attached to the body with a nail. Rectangular body with striaght sides. Chamfored edges. Space for cutter indicates the cutting edge would be set at an angle to the sides of the body. Bottom of the body is at an angle with an overhanging edge acting as the fence.
Notes Reference: K. Roberts, Vol. 1, Page 270. Even though this plane is missing its blade and wedge, it is a good example of a panel plane which are hard to find.
