Description Marking hamer or end stamp; A light hammer or ax used to stamp a brand on a tree or log. Used to identify ownership or company (handle is a possible replacement). One end of the diamond shaped head has a sideways "8", the other end is jagged and broken. One wooden wedge to hold head to handle. Logs could be sorted easily at the mill by using this form of identification (companies were paid according to the amount of logs arrived at the mill.)
