Description Carrying yoke for open canoe 56.61.3. A rectangular wooden frame with two leather straps (adjustable with buckles) around the shorter dimension which rest on the shoulders. The end pieces have a metal peg each to fit into a hole in the gunwale of the boat and are cut on a slant so as to carry the boat slightly tipped up in front.

Woodburned along one long side, on the underside as the boat is carried, is "ARPAD G. GERSTER . RAQUETTE LAKE."
Along the other long side, "LEVE FIT QUOD BENE FERTUR ONUS. 1887"
These inscriptions have been woodburned over a previous ink inscription, saying the same.
