Description New York or yankee style broad axe head. Used to for squaring logs and for squaring structural timbers of all kinds. Maker's marks on the side of the poll "Simmons & Co. Cohoes N.Y. Superior Cast Steel." Owner's marks stamped over the maker's marks: "WHE". Pointed lugs on the top and bottom of the head. Curved shoulders on the top and bottom of the blade. Curved cutting edge beveled on one side to protect the user's fingers.
