Description Marking hamer or end stamp; A light hammer or ax used to stamp a brand on a tree or log. Used to identify ownership or company. Logs could be sorted easily at the mill by using this form of identification - company's were paid according to the amount of logs arrived at the mill. Stamp is a elongated backwards "z". The end of the wooden handle has a leather collar tacked on, the top has wire around it (just below the head) for reinforcement.
