Description Carpenter's adz. Blacksmith made. Used for removing heavy waste, leveling, shaping or trimming the surfaces of timber. Iron head and blade. Flat, curving blade widens out to beveled cutting edge. Tapering head. Poll edge hangs over back of head. Varnished, square at top and oval shaped at bottom, curved wooden handle. Red paint, mostly chipped off, on the handle and head. Shim in front of handle in top of socket of head
