|Object Name||Plane, Bench|
Channel plane. Unusual plane used for cutting a wide channel. Because it has a vertical iron in front, called a nicker, which is used to sever the wood fibers, this plane was also designed to cut a groove across the grain without tearing the wood. Carved handle from a separate piece of wood attached in back with a nail. Scrolled wedge. Wood strips screwed onto both sides of the rectangular body.
No maker's marks.
