Object Name Yoke, Neck
Date 1890-1910
Maker Waddell, JH (?)
Material Wood
Used Waddell, JH., Blue Mountain Lake region (?)
Description Carrying yoke for a guideboat. Varnished on all surfaces except that varnish is worn away where the ends fit into the sockets on the boat. "J.H.WADDELL" is carved into the upper side in the middle.
Notes J. H. Waddell is probably the John Waddell mentioned in HKH's T34 as being a guide in the Blue Mountain Lake region in the late 1890s and early 1900s. In this accession were also two matchboxes (unlocated 3/2010) owned by Ernst Ehrmann, who purchased the Eagle's Nest property from W.W. Durant (which would place him in the region), and an Adirondack Guides Association badge (which would suggest he was a guide).
