Description Saranac Laker Model Adirondack Guideboat
L: 16' 1"B:37"Wt: 65 lbs

The bottom board of this guideboat is stamped with the initials of the Childwold Park Hotel Company. A guideboat with a more stable shape and heavier construction probably made a better choice for a livery guideboat than a lighter guide's model. Judd W. Rushton, J. Henry Rushton's half brother, ran the boat livery at the Childwold Park Hotel for a few years in the mid-1890s. Myron Augustus Nickerson worked for a time in Rushton's shop and his overall design was similar to Rushton's. Specific details noted by researcher S. Sulavic indicate that construction is typical of the Canton guideboat builder, Myron Augustus Nickerson.
