Albumen print portrait of Emma Hough Tait (1861-?), third wife of artist A.F. Tait.
Emma Hough came to the United Stated from England in 1872 at age 12 with her half sister "polly" Bartoft nd the artist. When Polly died in 1880, Emma stayed to help run the household and raise her nephews Arthur James Blossom Tait and Francis osborn Tai. She became Tait's third wife in a ceremony at Trinity Chapel in Manhattan in 1882.
