Scope & Content Transcript of an oral history interview with Helen Collins and her son, John, dated 24 January 1996. Interviewed by Kathryn Grover. Helen's father-in-law, Richard J. Collins, purchased the seasonal home of Hiram B. Duryea on the south shore of Blue Mountain Lake and converted the site into an Adirondack resort named The Hedges. The Collins family operated the hotel for fifty-two years (1920-1972). Helen and John Collins discuss operations and guests at the hotel, roads in the Blue Mountain Lake area, and the general history of the Blue Mountain Lake area from the 1930s to the 1970s.
